Singing at the Gorge...

Danielle and I have been performing regularly at the Gorge Harbour marina on a nice patio by the water.
The audience is mostly boaters, campers and locals. Lots of kids. We've really enjoyed it and seem to have "clicked" with the folks who come to hear us.

An evening walk at Mansons lagoon took us by this lovely old arbutus tree.

As well as a spectacular sunset.

Here is the new workshop with its final coat of paint (thanks to Danielle for her hard work!)
A sunset walk at Smelt Bay produced this shot of the setting sun highlighting the beach rocks.
This is the schooner, Maryke Violet, ex William A. Moir. I had visited her in Lund and then found her with a big crew of young folks at anchor at Manson's Landing. What a beauty boat! Built by Ben Heisler in Chester, Nova Scotia.

The Marine Dental Clinic

Meet Dale, the Cortes Island dentist and his floating clinic. He used to have the clinic on a sailboat, but sold that and moved operations to this little float house. Dale is still a keen sailor so we have something interesting to talk about in the few moments when I'm in his chair and able to speak. Today he told me about sailing with his two grandsons who love to jump off the bow of his boat, swim to the stern (or just wait till the boat passes them), grab one of the two long lines he tows astern, pull themselves up, clamber back on board and repeat the performance endlessly!

Doors and Windows

This is the southeast corner of the workshop showing the new doors and windows.

Fancy hardware for a workshop door eh? This was in my boxes of goodies I brought from Vancouver. A leftover from a handyman project.

The new garage doors. They are double bi-fold and will eventually (soon) have a metal track along the top with hangers attached to the two middle doors.

The store room door and the ladder I made for access to the loft.

Trip to town

Today I drove Danielle to Parksville where she caught the Island Link to the Nanaimo ferry. We spe nt a lovely 5 days together working on the land and socializing on Cortes. We even had a gig together at the Gorge Harbour Marina which was quite a success. While here, Danielle painted the outhouse so it now blends in beautifully with the surrounding foliage.

After dropping her off I turned around and headed for Demexx, a used construction supply place in Coombs. There I found some nice windows and doors for the workshop. Next stop the famous Coombs "Goats On The Roof" where I bought a few goodies like a mini bodum for my morning coffee and... a model plane to fly in my meadow!

Then back on the highway again for an hour or so to Campbell River where I completed my construction materials shopping and then headed for the ferry.

Now I'm happily having leftover spaghetti for supper and a nice glass of red after a busy and beautiful day.
