Robbie Dreidiger at work with his Tomatsu machine "sculpting" a new driveway entrance from Hague Road. Robbie is also building our new septic system... a great guy to work with!
A nice sweeping curve graces the new entrance. On the left are the walnut trees planted 30+ years ago by May Ellingsen. The smoke is of course from the burn pile which will likely keep burning for about 3 days.
Miche found a comfortable spot in the sadddle between two cedar trees. Her help on this trip was invaluable!
U-Haul truck meets trailer. The sunny day gave me a chance to test out the roll-out canopy on the trailer. It works great! With the stuff we brought upon this visit, the trailer is now more or less ready for me to move when I get back to Cortes in May.

Father and daughter on the ferry to Cortes Island... we made a flying two day visit with a U-Haul truck to take a load of stuff from Vancouver. We drove up on Tuesday, spent Wednesday unloading and meeting folks on the island to discuss work on the project and then we left early this morning (Thursday). It was a very smooth trip and a lot of fun!
Brothers! David Rousseau and I have been friends for almost 40 years. David lives on Cortes Island and is an architect with an incredible depth of knowledge and expertise in energy efficient and environmentally friendly architecture. Needless to say, he will be designing our house.
The burn pile was made up of branches, stumps, the old horse barn and anything else that was burnable. With the help of David's "Tiger Torch" it was not hard to get a good blaze going.
