Everything AND the Kitchen Sink...
Danielle and I just spent a week on Cortes, just prior to which an island carpenter, Brian, had installed the laminate counter tops. They are a mottled grey/green design with a cherry wood edge strip.
Then last Tuesday, our plumber friend Christian came by and did the plumbing for the kitchen sink and dishwasher. Yeah!
This really felt like the last major piece of the puzzle. The house is now complete and fully liveable.
So we are now turning our attention to the landscaping and gardening. During our stay we had two meetings with Maria, who helps people plan and manage theuir gardens. She is an expert in permaculture, a relatively new way of looking at gardening and land use from a sustainable food production perspective.
We also took advantage of a dry day to sort and burn the pile of scrap lumber that had accumulated last summer.
Not having much (any) indoor furniture other than a mattress to sleep on, we got a bit creative and used our nice teak patio table for a dining table and an old cable reel for a coffee table.
It all works fine and on Saturday evening we had some friends over for a potluck dinner and music session. The food was excellent and the music was heavenly! The house was smiling from ear to ear! Me too.
